Cooperative Program (CP)

Since 1925, Southern Baptists have been partnering together to touch the world through the Cooperative Program. The Cooperative Program unites all Southern Baptists into a mission team to fulfill the Great Commission.

Go, therefore and make disciples of all nations baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe everything I have commanded you. And remember, I am with you always, to the end of the Age. (Matthew 28:19-20 HCSB)

Baptists within our convention territory have found that working together, rather than individually, is a more efficient and effective way of doing God’s work in the world. Not every Christian can travel across the globe to share his or her faith, but by giving through the Cooperative Program, every person has a role in winning people to Christ.

An offering given by a family in Brooklyn will touch the lives of persons being led to the Lord in Birmingham, Alabama and Bulgaria—and the uttermost parts of the earth. In that way every person who gives through the Cooperative Program is a Great Commission partner, changing lives across the world.

Baptist Convention of New York churches voluntarily send a percentage or a specified amount of their regular offerings. Seventy four per cent (74%) of those funds remain in the Baptist Convention of New York territory so that we can assist our churches and associations in church planting, evangelism, ministry, and church growth. In addition to missions and evangelism here in our convention the remaining 26 percent (26%) is sent to the Southern Baptist Convention to help educate new pastors through six seminaries, send out about 5,500 missionaries through the International Mission Board and another 5,200 missionaries to the United States and Canada through the North American Mission Board.
